Crochet Tip # 5

Save those mayonnaise jars!

They are perfect to store your crochet hooks in.
You can label the jars with hook size-no more squinting to see the size on the needle.
Also great to store the little scraps of leftover yarn, just label yarn type on the jar, and you can see the color and less chance of the yarn getting tangled up.

I heard the train hit the breaks and smelled the rubber

It happened just up the street from me today. I heard this very loud noise then after I smelled the rubber I knew it must be the train which is just down the road. We walked down a bit to see the train at a complete stop and the traffic building up. Police and ambulance sirens could be heard.
Then a few minute later, the train was on it's way again.
I checked in the local paper on line and it said that a one legged man in a wheelchair was apparently going across the tracks when he fell out of the wheelchair and couldn't move. A man who was at a nearby shop came to his rescue, pulling him away within inches of the train. The train guy thought he had hit him, but luckily he didn't. That man had an an angel watching him today.

Crochet Tip # 4

Hiding the yarn ends

Instead of crocheting over yarn ends, use an embroidery needle (big eye needle) to sew the yarn in back through your project afterwards, slide your project over the yarn end so it wrinkles up on it a little, cut then yarn, then smooth your project back over the yarn end untill it disappears.

1 year on ETSY

I can't believe it's been one year already!
I've meet so many people and learned so much. Terms like ACEO,OOAK,& PIF had me scratching my head.
I remember the first sale I got & the first Treasury I was able to snag-still just as exciting.
I went from not even knowing how to use a digital camera, to uploading, cropping, resizing and making my first few shop items that soon grew to over 100.
I still learn something new everyday. I just recently figured out how to do this blog! It still has a way to go, but i'm getting the hang of it.
Well, time to get back to the shop-thanks for stopping by :)

Crochet Tip # 3

Joining Granny Squares-More "uniform" look

To join granny squares together for a more uniform look, take two granny squares and face the right sides together. From the very outer loops of the dc's on both granny squares, sc through just the outer loops of both the granny squares. Continue joining granny squares in this manner. When turned over, the squares will show very little of the joining stitch, and the squares will have a nice edge.

Crochet Tip # 2

Easy way to follow patterns in a book:

When reading patterns, use a sticky note to keep your place. It is also great to jot down notes on, and keeps your patterns from getting marked up.

Crochet Tip # 1

To keep track of which side is the front of your project do the following:

When starting the chain, leave a "tail" about 1 inch.complete your first row, go back and bring tail through the first stitch towards the front of your project. now the "tail" will hang out in the front. You can always weave it in when your done.

What do you get when you combine the words Plastic & Yarn?
You get the word Plarn.

This beautiful bag was crocheted using white and blue plastic grocery bags and light blue acrylic yarn for extra strength.Tight stitches add to the strength and durability, leaving "no holes" that your change could fall through. It's lightweight and versatile enough to use for the store or as a purse, the beach, for the library, or anything else you can think of.
It has a large flap closure and I added a handy front pocket that is perfect to keep your cell phone , grocery list or coupons in.

It's sure to be a conversation piece.
People will be amazed when you tell them what this bag is made from !

Strap 24 inches
