Crochet Tip #13

When crocheting with dark colors, place a light colored paper or fabric underneath what your working on. It helps you see the stitches better.

Little Green Man Space Alien Applique or Small Mask Pattern

Little Green Man Space Alien Applique

or Small Mask

By Debbie Williams

Size G hook

Worsted weight yarn

Note: you can probably do the pattern in crochet thread with a smaller hook like # 7, but I have not tested it.

Rnd 1: ch 1, 9 sc in ring, sl st in first sc, to join.
Rnd 2: ch 1, 2 sc in ea of first 3 sc, ch 5 (for eye), skip next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, ch 8 (for mouth), 2 sc in next sc, ch 5 (for other eye), skip next 2 sc, sl st in first sc of this round, to join.
Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in same as joining and next 5 scs, 5 scs around ch 5 of eye, dec over next 2 scs, sc in next 8 chs of mouth, dec over next 2 scs,5 sc around ch5 sp for next eye , join to top of 1st stitch

Turn (do not ch1) sl st in 2 scs, turn (you're back tracking here)

Rnd 4: ch1, sk 1 sc, sc in next 9 scs, sl st in next sc

Rnd 5: ch 1, sk 1 sc,sc in next 8 scs, sl st in next sc

Rnd 6: ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc in next 7 scs, sl st in next sc

Rnd 7: ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc in next 6, sl st in next sc

Extra Tip:

If you would like to turn this into a little mask, go around edge again in sc until desired "bowl effect " is reached. Tie a piece of yarn to each side (near top of each eye)

*For best results, it is recommended to work pattern exactly as written. instructions have been checked for accuracy; however I am not responsible for typographical error, differences in individual interpretation or other variances.

My Keeshound Nikki

I finally got a good picture of my camera-shy dog Nikki

Large Light Blue Crochet Butterfly Applique Embellishment

I made this pretty butterfly with a size 3 Mercerized cotton thread which is a strong thread and has a nice shine to it.
It would really dress up a tote, pillow, shirt, jacket or anything else you can think of. It can even be used as a small doily.

The butterfly measures approximately 11 inches across at its widest point.
Body is 4 inches long (excluding antennas )

Crochet Tip #11

Care instructions:
Whenever I make wearable gifts, I enclose the care label from the skein of the yarn that I used.

Crochet Tip # 10

Find the end strings of the yarn-both are usually inside the middle of the skien, one on each end.One wraps around the outside (just put that one out of the way) pull the other end out from the center and work with that one. It's much easier to work with.

New Deals

I've been busy making some great deals on items in my shop. There's lots of sales and free shipping on select items (U.S.)
I'm trying to make room for new items i'm currently working on. As some of you know, I am always comming out with something different. My newest is working with plarn.
It's such a gret way to recycle!
I just gave my friends daughter one as part of her graduation gift. She as well as other ones at her house couldn't believe how it was made.
To date I've made some bags, a market tote, a basket, now i'm working on a new plarn project. You'll have to wait until it comes out to see what is.

Crochet Tip # 9

If you need to put an incomplete project aside, pull up the last stitch an inch or so. This way your item won't come undone.

Crochet Tip # 8

When making your starting chain, leave a tail long enough as to sew back into your project when finished. It's easier than trying to crochet over a small end that may "poke out".

Crochet Tip # 7

Place an unused dryer sheet in your yarn storage bin to keep it smelling fresh.
