Crochet Tip #15

Adding a second color

When you want to change to a different color yarn, leave the last two loops on hook of the current color, take the second color yarn and loop it over the hook, leaving an end which will be long enough to weave in on the wrong side. ( I find it's easier to do with an embroidery needle than a crochet hook) Draw the new color through remaining two loops to finish the last stitch. Pull the first yarn color gently to the side of the work to tighten where joined before weaving in.

Cell Phone Cozy Upcycled

Cell Phone Cozy Upcycled
I love the way this cozy turned out!
The picture doesn't do it justice.
The idea came to me while making a rag rug.

I crocheted this from gray cotton strips of a former T shirt,
and it came out sturdy and thick.

This is made totally from upcycled / recycled materials right down to the button.
The button is a silver color and is plastic, does show some wear, but still pretty.
It is attached using a cotton strip for added strength.
The loop closure can also be used as a convenient carry handle.
