August is NOT my favorite month!

August is not my favorite month. It is the height of hurricane season. The systems are really spinning off the African coast now and already two major systems have developed. Thankfully, not coming here to Florida, but close.
The storms really make swimming in the ocean dangerous.Even with all the warnings , people still go into the water. There where 20 rescues just yesterday and one death earlier in the week.I will stick with my pool, thank you.
So I will be keeping my news channel on a little bit more as you can never 100% predict the track of a hurricane.

Sidetick now giving credit for referrals (Sites that don't suck update)

I joined SideTick a few months ago. It's a social site where you can earn money to share your blog, pictures etc. When I first joined, I was told they weren't giving anything for referrals.(sure after I referred a crap-load of people) Well now it seems they've changed their mind, and say they give , although they don't make it clear on what or how much. Just says six levels deep. The site does pay, and a lot quicker than others I've joined in the past.If anyones interested, here's the link. It's worth a shot

My Crochet Today

I just made a cute pair of Pumpkin Kitchen Scrubbies. I figured Fall is just around the corner, and these would be a cute addition to the Fall decor.

My Crochet Today

Did you ever have some yarn that you didn't know what to do with? I had a skein of a very pretty yarn, but couldn't figure out what to make. Then I got to thinking, I could add it along with my t-yarn and make some coasters.
I love the way they came out. I just crocheted the yarn and  the t yarn (t shirt yarn) togeather. Then I added a turquoise border from more t yarn. Made like my rag rugs, just a bit different.

I didn't want to do it but....

I figured I better start listing some holiday items since old St. Nick is due to visit soon. It's funny to think about since the weather here has been over 100 with the heat index!
So anyway, I just listed a few hanging kitchen towels in my Etsy shop if you would like to take a peek. I plan on listing more depending on how these go.

Merrily Yours~

There's almost always a rainbow after the storm

We had another one of the rain storms that are becoming more common in the afternoon. The heat has been terrible with the humidity making it feel like 107 just today! The one thing I look forward is trying to find a rainbow after the storm. That's also a good way to look at life when things get "stormy"

My Crochet Today

I look up at the clock and the time is 1:58 A.M. and I just finished up another rag rug.Once I get started on one of my crochet projects, I don't want to put it down until it's finished
I don't use a pattern for my rugs, I just think them up as I go along. It's too late to take a picture of it now, so I will later on. I still have to hose it down to remove any loose fibers and let it dry in the sun. The temps are around to the 100 degree mark lately, so it will dry in no time. I found out the pictures come out better if I take them outside in in-direct sunlight. The best time is about 6:00 P.M. for me. So until then all I can tell you it's different from my other ones, but just as colorful.

My Crochet Today Small Hexagon Rag Rug Fiesta

Yes , I made another rag rug. I'm making different sizes as to offer price ranges.
I love the way this one turned out.
As I was making this little rug with these fabulous colors, I thought "Fiesta"

This rug, made of reclaimed t shirts,is full of color. The hexagon shape measures approx 22" at the widest points, and 20" at the shorter points. It would be perfect to add a bit of brightness to a dark area or as a table trivet.

Small Round Rag Rug White with Mixed Colors

I've been on a rag rug kick lately. I just finished this cute little rug. I crocheted it from old t shirts with the main color in white and randomly placed mixed colors throughout. It measures approx 21 inches.

My Crochet Today

I just finished up a round multi colored rag rug. I crocheted it with many different colored t shirts.
It measures approx.32 inches across.
Heavy and very durable.
All of the fabric was washed before used, and hosed off and air dried in the Florida sun after completion to remove any loose fibers.

I would recommend a commercial washer to clean this as it does get pretty heavy when wet, or just hose off and air dry on a railing like in my picture.

Be careful if using on slick surfaces as it does not have a slip proof backing.

Turtle Table Rag Rug Trivet

My own original design.
This cute turtle trivet is made the same way as my rag rugs. It's made from recycled t-shirts which were purchased from my local thrift store that supports the area food banks and charities. It would be great to use under plants,or use it on your table for hot or cold items. Kids would love to use it as a placemat, save the table from those little "oops".
When not in use, you can hang it up by it's looped tail.
