Cotton Thread size 10
Approx size: 3 inches long by 2 inches wide
Body
Make a Magic loop (you can look up directions on the internet-very easy)
Row 1
Ch 3, make 11 dcs in loop-tighten, join to top of ch 3 with a sl st (12 )
Row 2:
Ch 3, 1 dc in 1st dc, 2 dcs in each dc around join to top of ch 3 with a sl st (24)
Row 3:
Ch 3, *1 dc in 1st dc, 2 dcs in next. Rep from * around join to top of ch 3 w a sl st (36)
Row 4:
Ch 1. Sc in next 5 dcs. (sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 1st leg made.
sc in the next 7 dcs , sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 2nd leg made.
sc in next 4 dcs,(sc,ch 3,sc all in next dc) Tail made.
sc in next 4 dcs,(sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 3rd leg made.,
sc in next 7 dcs ,(sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 4 th leg made
sc in next 4 dcs.join with a sl st to 1st sc. sl st in next 1 sc. ch2, turn. dc in next 4 scs-working over the sl sts just made. ch 2, turn. dc dec over next 2 scs, dc dec over next dc and top of ch 2,
ch 1 turn, sc dec over next 2 dcs, finish.
You can also make these into coasters using cotton yarn and a size g or h hook

It has been brought to my attention that there has been some difficulty understanding the directions for the head part. I have made a color chart to help. I also did catch a couple of mistakes which are now changed as you will see in bolder fonts. Thank you for understanding as i am fairly new at writing patterns.

sc in the next 7 dcs , sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 2nd leg made.
sc in next 4 dcs,(sc,ch 3,sc all in next dc) Tail made.
sc in next 4 dcs,(sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 3rd leg made.,
sc in next 7 dcs ,(sc,ch 2, dc, ch 2, sc -all in next dc) 4 th leg made

sl st in next 2 scs. ch2, turn. (red)
dc in next 4 SINGLE CROCHETS -working over the 2 sl sts just made. Here you go into the same two scs as the slip stitches, working over the slip stitches (black)
