Why Does Everything Happen At Once?

I went to sleep at 12:00 only to be woke up by my dog Nikki at 3:00am. She was whining and barking and just wouldn't settle down. I let her out, i fed her treats and even gave her food with a bit of cut up pork chop in it. I'm not sure if she's in heat or if the breast tumor is bothering her now. I took her to the vet about a month ago. The vet feels it's cancer and wants to do surgery. They also gave me an estimate of $536.00 for the surgery to be paid in full at time she is discharged from the hospital. All this comes at the same time the tenants screwed us out of rent since December, not to mention the outrageous amounts we had to pay for eviction and to sue for back rent in small claims was another charge. Wouldn't you know they left before they got served. But at least the two things will be on record. They moved to another state so it's doubtful they will even show up for court. Regardless i don't see them paying anything.

So now we have some people lined up to rent the place. Have to do some repairs, but not as bad as it could have been. My worry now is my dog. She's going on 14. Her mom died at 13 and her father was 12. Life expectancies are avg around 12-15.What are the chances she has if she has the surgery? How am i going to pay for it? I don't think they will work anything with me for payments. How long does she have? Is she in pain? Just too much to worry about. I'm calling her vet tomorrow to see what they suggest i do.I just don't want the vet to try to "soak" me if the outcome is grim.I knew a lady who paid thousands just for her dog to die of cancer anyway. Regardless the bottom line is i don't want her to be in pain. Maybe she's just in heat, but i can't be sure. I wish dogs could talk.I gave her 1/2 of her pain pill that i got from the vet for her back, so she's finally sleeping now. Something has to be done one way or the other.

It's so sad when you have to make those decisions concerning your pets. I hope things improve for your sweetie and that she will be comfortable. She's such a pretty dog!
