It's Finished -- Sophies Universe Afghan

Well it's been fun. I finished off the afghan with a bobble stitch. I'm really happy with it. The only thing i didn't do was block it. The directions said it wasn't necessary as it will form itself when laid out on the bed. Here it is on a queen size bed. It measures approx 88 x 88 inches. I didn't count the yarn as i just used what ever i had from my stash. Made mostly from acrylic yarn, some unknown fibers.

My Crochet Today

I got so into making this rug that by the time i finished it today, it ended up being 54 inches across!

I crocheted it from many different colored t shirts. When it's done I take it out on my deck and hose it off to remove any loose fibers and air dry it over my railing. (It was about 80 degrees here today). I figure as long as it doesn't rain, it should take about two days to dry. Then i will give it a quick air tumble in the dryer. It's listed in my Etsy shop. My Crochet Today Recycled Trivet / Pet Mat / Hot Pad

I love the way this came out. It was a lot of work, but i'm very pleased with it.
It would be great not only as a trivet for your table, but as a pet rug for a small dog or cat.

This rug is made from recycled t-shirts which were purchased from my local thrift store that supports the area food banks and charities. The second picture shows the back of the trivet. It has a raised stitch so depending on your preference, either side can be displayed.

The t shirts where cleaned, cut into strips and then crocheted into this pretty trivet.

My Crochet Today- A "Milk Bowl" Recycle Project

First I have to explain how I made this.

I took approximately fifty plastic wrappers I saved up from gallons of milk. I then cut them into thin strips and connected them like a rubber band chain. Then I crocheted them into a bowl. It measures 5 inches tall x 5 inches wide.

I call it the milk bowl, although it really won't hold liquids.

My Crochet Today

Here's something a little different. A combo set of a hanging kitchen towel and scrub pad.

The top of the towel is crocheted with a button closure to hang from handles or knobs in your kitchen, and the matching scrub pad has a loop that also can hang from the same button, or by itself.

Weather you're doing the dishes or cooking, these will come in handy.
