How To Make Tee Shirt (T-Yarn) Yarn From Old T Shirts

Let's face it, yarn is getting expensive. I wanted to find a way to save money and I even managed to accomplish some recycling.I have made some great items like totes trivets & rugs from old cotton t shirts that i purchased from my local thrift store.(sales proceeds go to area food banks-another plus) Here I will explain how you can make T Yarn . Be warned, i got a nasty blister on my thumb when i first started this. What i did later on that helped was to actually wrap some t yarn around the thumb handle of the scissors. The added cushion helped a lot. You need a good sharp pair of scissors!

This cute little basket was created from T shirts that I cut into strips and crocheted with.

Great to hold some fruit,pens,pencils,crochet hooks or fill with your favorite potpourri and sit on your desk!

My Crochet Today- A "Milk Bowl" Recycle Project

First I have to explain how I made this.

I took approximately fifty plastic wrappers I saved up from gallons of milk. I then cut them into thin strips and connected them like a rubber band chain. Then I crocheted them into a bowl. It measures 5 inches tall x 5 inches wide.

I call it the milk bowl, although it really won't hold liquids.

Crochet Recycled Bed Sheets Teddy Bear

Instead of making a rag rug, I decided to try to make a rag teddy bear. I crocheted it with sheets and made a matching scarf. I trimmed the scarf with a pretty thread border.It's stuffed with leftover scraps of the sheets and old shirts. It's pretty solid and weighs a few pounds. About 16 inches tall.
What would you call it? I was thinking Bed Sheets Bear or Raggy Bear
